Motorola Droid X Quickly Rooted

Verizon's Motorola Droid X, launched just last week, has been rooted due to some hard work by a few of AllDroid's members. Unfortunately, this is just one of the challenges that have to completed to get past the Droid X's bootloader and eFuse technology, that has caused such an uproar in the hacker community.

Make no mistake though, this is a big step towards many people's ultimate goal, because, as Android Central notes, "everything on the Droid X will have root access after this."

For those of you new to the Android scene, the race to see who can get a custom ROM onto the phone is far from over. AndroidandMe notes that with root, this still "won’t allow you to flash new ROMs yet", but hopefully the wait won't be too much longer, with the attention this phone is grabbing.

However, Phandroid reminds us that "Root is still very useful for many things (such as WiFi tethering, having the ability to take screenshots, and more)"

AndroidandMe adds that the current method requires "you to use command prompt/terminal and that you have ADB setup so it is a little more complicated than some of the one click options that have been circulating of late", but for many, this is more than enough to get going on cooking up some ROMs.

Head over to AllDroid to get started on it, assuming you know what you are getting yourself into.
