Here at AndroidPIT, we're always on the hunt for beautiful new wallpapers. We've got a crush on live wallpapers, but they tend to drain your battery in a matter of hours. Now, a developer over at XDA has figured out a way to port your location-specific Google Now graphics to your homescreen, and the resulting wallpaper is pretty awesome.

Since Google Now is becoming more and more ubiquitous (now available on iOS and soon from your browser), it makes sense that it would end up as a live wallpaper, and we must say we love the way this one looks.

With Google Now Wallpaper HD, your phone's background is transformed into a graphical representation of your current city. What's more, the wallpaper changes as the hours of the day pass by, from dusk till dawn and beyond. Since the wallpaper only changes four times a day (dawn, day, dusk, night), it won't drain your battery like a live wallpaper, but it's just as cool.

So far, the developer has only ported certain locations, including San Francisco, Tahoe, Austin, Seattle, New York, Honolulu, Chicago, Berlin and London, but apparantly he's going to add more soon.

It's a totally simple app but we like it a lot. You can download it directly from the Google Play Store here.

Seriously, what's the point of giving it a name like "Google Now Wallpaper HD" - does the dev seriously think Google will let that stay?
