PicSay - Photo Editor

PicSay - Photo Editor

Today I’m going to be reviewing a classic Android app: PicSay. PicSay allows you to pimp up pictures you’ve taken using your Android phone with comments, speech balloons, and cool graphic effects. It also lets you share your photos via email, MMS, Blog or a photo sharing site of your choice.

Features & Use

My first impression of this app is really good.

PicSay was one of the first apps to be developed, and I think it’s safe to say that by now it’s reached cult status. Using PicSay you can easily embellish your own photos with personalized greeting messages, comments or sweet visual effects, as well as then send off your masterpieces to various destinations.

For instance, rather than sending a postcard when you’re on holiday (let’s face it, it can seem like a lot of work, especially when all you want to do is enjoy yourself), why not send your greetings to you friends and family via email or MMS. That being said, even though PicSay allows you to make photos and messages completely unique and individual, I’m sure Granny would be happy to receive an old-fashioned snail mail postcard, too ;-)

Here’s a selection of some of the features:

- Insert different types of speech balloons into image
- Add title/text
- Clip-Art collection
- Spotlight
- Pixelize
- Marker
- Dizziness
- Sepia
- etc.

Share pictures via

- Mail
- MMS
- Blog / Flickr and the like

Bottom line:
What can I say—this is a great app.

Screen & Controls

Very intuitive controls. It doesn’t take very long to figure out how everything works and get cracking. What’s also quite helpful is that you can access the online documentation via a link under the Help button.

Speed & Stability

The app runs smoothly and steadily. Even after testing it out intensively for several days the app is still a model of stability, and is always ready to use.

Price/Performance Ratio

You can download PicSay for free from the Android Market.

    @Bill -- I know what you mean, but I still like PicSay's display ;)

Not bad but I was disappointed to find out that one of the features that impressed me the most was only available on the paid version. Bottom line: it's OK but I prefer Photoshop.
