Vivo 'Waterdrop' is coming to the MWC with an unprecedented design

It's almost been a year since Vivo amazed the world with its futuristic smartphone prototype called APEX and shown behind closed doors during last year's MWC in Barcelona. The concept was then transformed into the device launched on the market as Vivo NEX. It seems that this year the Chinese company is preparing to impress us again with a design never seen before in a smartphone. What should we expect?

During the MWC 2018 in Barcelona, at a closed-door conference, Vivo presented a prototype smartphone called APEX, which garnered a lot of attention thanks to its unique full-screen design and its pop-up camera. It seems that OPPO's sister company is preparing to revolutionize our ideas about smartphones once again. Of course, it is the reliable leaker Ice Universe that gives us some idea of what we can expect.

The new prototype 'Waterdrop' is allegedly inspired by a cosmic detection from a the novel The Three-Body Problem, and thanks to two tweets published yesterday evening, we can have a sneak peak at the supposed design.

The smartphone looks completely rounded and covered with a glass that curves very conspicuously to the sides, in a way brings to mind the first model of Honor Magic presented a few years ago. What seems to be missing, however, is a metal frame that holds the two halves of the smartphone together. In addition, the second tweet allowed the imagination of many users to run wild. Some speculate the device will have no physical keys.

There is currently no further information on the subject, but we expect new leaks as the Catalan fair approaches.

What do you think of the 'Waterdrop'? Let us know in the comments.

You can consider Vivo as Aunt of Oneplus, OPPO being father of Oneplus. All the three companies are owned by BBK electronics (China). Surprisingly Oneplus never shows anything at MWC - Because Oneplus never innovated anything since its debut 😂😂 (Don't tell this to Oneplus fans or they will chase you down at MWC).
Oneplus is just an ambitious company that has decided to recycle last year's tech innovations to be used in its products and sell them at a price less that the competition. At its core, it uses patented technologies of OPPO, OPPO's design and what not. Oneplus smartphones are manufactured by OPPO. They have the motto "One step ahead" and "Never settle" while they are always one step behind and always settle.
As for Vivo, its smartphones has the worst custom skin - Fun touch OS, complete ripoff of iOS, to the point all customizations are crippled.

Hm, I do have to disagree. I wouldn't say they push out a lot of innovations or something, but being a step behind? They are the first company to offer a working in display fingerprint reader for under 600 Euros. How is that a step behind? They always run the latest and greatest Snapdragon processor, and their phones are always among the fastest out there. How is that a step behind?

Oriental market is a world of its own, has its own strong moving players, independent of western consumer market.

In display fingerprint scanner - Vivo was first.

Latest snapdragon - all flagships other than Huawei, Sammy in Korea and America.

Fastest - Not faster than Asus ROG, Black Shark.

In Camera department - Not flagship grade, good enough. Second sensor useless.

Display - Amoled, Not Flagship grade, just good. (resolution, brightness)

        Audio - below average

        IP rating, wireless charging???!

        USB 2.0 not 3.0 or 3.1??!

Customer service / after sales customer satisfaction - most appalling, a bit improved though

Dash charging - Rebranded VOOC charging, patented technology of OPPO.

Oneplus keeps its smartphone prices quite steady, you can get tier one flagship smartphones during discount seasons at an equivalent or lesser price.

        😊😊😊Get your facts right 😉😉😉

Vivo does offers in display fingerprint scanner enabled smartphone at 340 dollars in offline market. POCOPHONE and Asus Zenfone 5Z are real flagship killers and actual value performance flagships.

I said indisplay fingerprint reader for under 600 Euros... the Vivo Nex with the indisplay reader is far away from 600 Euros in Europe ;)
Don't worry, I got my facts right. As I stated, OnePlus is not really innovating, as a subbrand of Oppo, they are not even supposed to, they have a different strategy. But there is a difference between innovating and actually being a step behind. And your points actually show that they are not really a step behind.
I do agree on the wireless charging part, but apparently that's gonna change.
